WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR TCSP FUNDING?

Any student graduating from a Teton County, Wyoming high school is welcome and encouraged to apply. This includes home-school students.

HOW MANY SCHOLARSHIPS ARE OFFERED?

The total number of awards vary from year to year, but TCSP typically offers 65-75 scholarships. Many scholarships provide awards to more than one student and so the total number of awards is usually between 150-200.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE AWARD AMOUNT?

Scholarships range in value from $500 to more than $25,000. The average award for student winners is around $5,000.

HOW MANY SCHOLARSHIPS SHOULD A STUDENT APPLY FOR?

Students are welcome to apply for any scholarship for which they are eligible, but the application process can be time-consuming; we recommend that you focus on the scholarships that best fit your needs and your strengths.

HOW MANY APPLICATIONS DOES TCSP RECEIVE EACH YEAR?

On average, 150 students apply each year.

WHEN ARE WINNERS ANNOUNCED?

We announce the winners at a special community event each year in late April.

WHAT EXPENSES DO TCSP SCHOLARSHIPS COVER?

TCSP wants to give families as much flexibility as possible to pay for college, and so our scholarships generally apply to all costs of attendance. These include:

  • Tuition and fees

  • Books, course materials, supplies, and equipment

  • Cost of housing and food

  • Transportation expenses

  • Fees related to school medical insurance and services

  • Costs of obtaining a license, certification, or professional credential related to your degree

  • Please note that the IRS is stricter on what it considers qualified educational expenses. Funds used for non-qualified expenses like housing, food, travel, and insurance may be subject to taxes.

  • Please keep in mind that not every scholarship can be used for every expenses. The specific parameters of each scholarship are outlined in the TCSP booklet.

 

WHAT EXPENSES ARE NOT COVERED?

  • Personal expenses, such as entertainment, recreation, clothes, self-care and grooming services, etc.

  • Activities that do not generate credit toward your degree, certificate, or license

  • Non-academic programs, such as National Outdoor Leadership Program (NOLS) and Outward Bound

Reach out to either of the program administrators and we’ll gladly help. TCSP is jointly administered by the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole and the Fund for Public Education.
